A sweet poem, an enchanted place, a story to live. Villa Desira by Casa da Suite runs along Lake Maggiore and sees it from the front, in all dimension, from every angle. Breathtaking sunrises, romantic sunsets, the landing of boats and the vitality of the beach lights the eyes of every guest. The house is spread over four floors, each with a large terrace overlooking the lake. It is surrounded by a huge garden, an ideal place for outdoor dining, with barbecue and solarium.\nThere are a lot of attractions close the villa: a few steps away from the house there is one of the most beautiful beaches of the whole coast, with the Lido di Meina, the best equipped bathing establishment in the area. Famous and acclaimed, the lido is now a desired destination both for tourists and connoisseurs of the area: it has a beach equipped with umbrellas and deck chairs, a bar, changing rooms, showers, games for children, two swimming pools and tennis courts. In the same area, a few meters after the lido, there is the Meina Beach Club, an exclusive night club, with a platform on the beach and one on the water, where you can enjoy a good cocktail in front of a breathtaking sunset.
The Ferrario Nautica shipyard in Meina, also reachable on foot, provides several boats for daily rental, for exciting days on Lake Maggiore: open boats are available with capacity up to 6 people and driving without a boat license. The same center also organizes long-term rentals and offers, throughout the year, comfortable and functional vessels specially equipped for sport fishing.
Golf enthusiasts have at their disposal the facilities of the Alpine Golf Club and the Des Iles Borromées Golf Club on the heights of Stresa, with an enchanting view of the Borromeo Islands. Continuing along Lake Maggiore to the north there is also the Verbania Golf Club on Lake Mergozzo and then, on the heights, the Alpine club Piandisole Golf Club, located at the gates of the Val Grande National Park, the largest wilderness area in the Alps 'Italy.
Stresa and the Borromeo Islands.
A 15-minute drive (14 km of lakefront, Statale 33) is Stresa, the "Queen of Lake Maggiore", located under the slopes of Mottarone. The numerous villas, parks, gardens, the flowery lakefront, the ever-changing spectacle of the Borromeo Islands, have made Stresa famous all over the world. Among other things, right here is the hotel where the "Farewell to arms" of the "soldier" Ernest Hemingway was born: indeed in the Grand Hotel des Iles Borromées in 1918 stayed the young Hemingway, convalescent of war wounds.
Just in front of Stresa we find Isola Bella, Isola dei Pescatori and Isola Madre. The first, with the Italian baroque gardens that recall the figure of a vessel firmly anchored in the lake (the Borromeo palace contains works of art, tapestries, furniture and paintings.) Alongside the island of the Fishermen (or island Superiore), which boasts the charm of a typical fishing village along its 300 meters in length: the maze of narrow streets that overlook the lake and the characteristic parish church of San Vittore make the charm of this place unique. also the largest of the Borromean islands, is the Mother island: with its botanical gardens inside which in total freedom live white peacocks, parrots and pheasants of all varieties, offers a cozy and enchanted atmosphere (for some years it has been open to visit the 16th century Palace, which contains the reconstruction of period environments, collections of liveries, dolls and porcelains).
Mergozzo.
A little more than ten kilometers north of Stresa (along State Road 33) is Mergozzo, which overlooks the lake of the same name, a small and characteristic town whose history is closely linked to stone, white granite, pink marble of Candoglia (the one used since the end of 1300 for the construction of the Milan Cathedral and that was transported with special boats along the lake and the river Ticino).
Arona and Angera.
4 kilometers south of Meina there is Arona, the largest town, also rich in historical evidence, with restaurants (many in the historic center) and shopping centers to meet every need.
Continuing beyond Arona, after 18 kilometers and passing through Sesto Calende, you can reach Angera, whose fortress overlooks the lake in front of the residence of Lesa, and stands majestically on a spur of rock that dominates the southern shore of Lake Maggiore. Inside the Rocca an enthralling path leads to the discovery of the impressive historical rooms; there are also the Doll and Toy Museum (the largest in Europe), and a sophisticated Medieval garden, full of symbolic meanings and period documents.\nVilla Desira by Casa da Suite can be easily reached from the Strada del Sempione 33 or from the A8-A26 motorway (E62, exit Meina) that connects the international airport of Milan-Malpensa in just 40 minutes. Alternatively, a few meters from the house, there is the Meina Railway Station, one of the stops on the Milan Domodossola line, from where it is easy to find frequent connections to Stresa and Milan.
