Apartment - Via Duchessa di Genova, 36 - StresaDescription
Just in front of Stresa we find Isola Bella, Isola dei Pescatori and Isola Madre. The first, with the Italian gardens that evoke the shape of a vessel firmly anchored in the lake: the botanical gardens they live in total freedom white peacocks, parrots and pheasants, offers an intimate and enchanted atmosphere (a few years ago the 16th century Palace was opened for visits, which contains the reconstruction of period environments, collections of liveries, dolls and porcelains). Next to it there is the Isola dei Pescatori (or Isola Superiore), which boasts the charm of a typical fishing village along its 300 meters of length: the maze of narrow streets that overlook the lake and the characteristic parish church of San Vittore, a unique charm of this place.
Stresa is also considered a golfer's paradise, that in this charming and romantic locations are modern and super-equipped, inserted in a beautiful natural environment: the golf club at the Alpine Golf Club Des Iles Borromees, with the beautiful view on the islands. Continuing along Lake Maggiore to the north there is also the Golf Club Verbania on Lake Mergozzo and then, on the heights, the Alpine Golf Club Piandisole club, located at the entrance of the National Park of Val Grande, the largest wilderness area in the Alps d 'Italy.
The hiking enthusiasts have a wide choice of tracks, with different degrees of difficulty, to cross on foot, mountain bike or horseback: itineraries in the green, in addition to physical well give the pleasure of amazing views.
Mergozzo. A little more than ten kilometers north of Stresa (along State Road 33) there is Mergozzo, which overlooks the lake of the same name, a small and characteristic town whose history is closely linked to stone, white granite, pink marble of Candoglia (the one used since the end of 1300 for the construction of the Milan Cathedral and that was transported with special boats along the lake and the river Ticino).
Arona and Angera. About twenty kilometers south of Stresa, less than half an hour's walk along the Statale 33, there is Arona, the largest town, also rich in historical evidence, but also in restaurants (many in the historic center) and shopping centers to meet every need.
Continuing beyond Arona, passing through Sesto Calende, you can then reach Angera, whose fortress overlooks the lake in front of Stresa, and stands majestically on a spur of rock that dominates the southern shore of Lake Maggiore. Inside the Rocca an enthralling path leads to the discovery of the impressive historical rooms; there are also the Doll and Toy Museum (the largest in Europe), and a sophisticated Medieval garden, full of symbolic meanings and period documents.\nA 3-minute walk takes you to the lakefront, home to the most prestigious hotels on the coast (among all, the Hotel des Iles Borromées and the Regina Palace) and the starting point of the boats for the Borromean islands.
The railway station is less than 5 minutes on foot. All trains stop in Stresa. This is a huge advantage for those arriving from Milan Malpensa International Airport, which can be reached in 75 minutes, and for those who wish to spend a day visiting other Italian splendors (for example: you can reach Milan or Turin in an hour ) and Swiss (in less than 3 hours you will arrive in Geneva).
The house can be easily reached by car from the A8-A26 motorway (Carpugnino exit, less than 5 km away) which connects the Milan-Malpensa international airport in just 40 minutes, or from the Statale 33 del Sempione, which runs along the lake passing for all the most beautiful cities on the coast.
